For 2001, Ertl chose the John Deere 4520 as the National Farm Toy Show's official 1:16 scale release. The show has run every November in Dyersville, Iowa, since 1978, and this is one of its annual tractor releases. Like the rest of the National Farm Toy Show series, the John Deere 4520 was produced in a limited run for the show and its mail-order audience and has not been in production since, making it a fixture of secondary-market collecting today.
