Ertl produced this 1:16 scale John Deere 4230 Diesel as the official National Farm Toy Show exclusive for 1998. It carries on the show's tradition of a new tractor release each November in Dyersville, Iowa. The John Deere 4230 Diesel never reached general retail, selling only through the show and Toy Farmer's mail order, and it has not returned to production since, making it a collector piece today.
