For 1978, Ertl chose the McCormick Farmall 560 as the National Farm Toy Show's official 1:16 scale release. The National Farm Toy Show has held its Dyersville, Iowa gathering every November since 1978, and this tractor was that year's release. It was the first-ever National Farm Toy Show tractor. No general retail run followed for the McCormick Farmall 560; it sold only at the show and through Toy Farmer's mail order, and that limited run is what collectors chase today.
