The Model 70 Diesel Tractor
Farmer Jerry says
“The Model 70 diesel had that pony motor to start her up. You'd get the little gas engine screaming to turn over the big diesel. Quite the process on a frosty morning, I tell ya!”
About this model
- 1:16 die-cast metal replica
- Narrow (row-crop)
- Two-cylinder diesel
- Original 1995 Precision Classics release
The John Deere Model 70 holds a landmark place in two-cylinder tractor history as the first John Deere tractor offered from the factory with a diesel engine. Built from 1954 to 1956, the 70 row-crop diesel delivered roughly 50 belt horsepower and proved that the two-cylinder design could compete head-to-head with diesel offerings from rival manufacturers. This 1:16 Precision Classics replica, released in 1995, details the narrow front end and exposed engine characteristic of the row-crop configuration.
