The Model 494A Four-Row Planter
Farmer Jerry says
“Four rows at a time! We thought we were really flyin' with the 494A. You had to make sure your seed plates were turning right, or you'd have some mighty bare patches come July.”
About this model
- 1:16 die-cast metal replica
- Original 1996 Precision Classics release
The John Deere 494A was a popular four-row integral planter widely used through the 1960s and into the 1970s, designed to mount directly to the three-point hitch of tractors like the 4020. This 1996 Precision Classics replica captures the individual planting units, seed hoppers, and frame in 1:16 scale. Together with the matching tractors in the series, the 494A represents the complete planting operation that defined corn and soybean production for a generation of Midwest farmers.
